PROJECT OVERVIEW
A brand and editorial transformation that unified five Melbourne newspapers into one city-wide publication, The Melburnian.

The BRIEF
To refine Hyperlocal News’ vision, values, audience, and creative ambitions and consolidate its existing five papers into a single, city-wide publication, named The Melburnian.

The Client
Hyperlocal News is Melbourne's most connected community media network, publishing five local newspapers across the City of Melbourne. With a combined print and digital readership of more than 150,000 locals every month, the network has spent years giving Melbourne's inner-city communities a genuine local voice.
The Results
Born Social developed a highly conceptual brand system rooted in Melbourne's grid structure, using the word mark itself to form a visual map of the city's iconic places and cultural moments.
The grid running through the publication draws directly from the Melbourne tram network, reflecting how the city moves and how The Melburnian sits at the centre of it. Five publications, one identity. A brand as recognisable as the city it covers.
