Born Social is a Melbourne packaging design agency creating packaging for FMCG, beauty, food and beverage and consumer brands that need to stand out in competitive retail environments and translate just as well on socials.
‍
We design packaging in-house, from initial concept through to print-ready files and dieline setup. Most clients manage their own print production, and we work closely with them to make sure everything is set up correctly for whoever is doing the printing. Where helpful, we can also make supplier recommendations and provide guidance on finishes, substrates and production specifications.
‍
We work with brands launching a new product, refreshing an existing range and businesses scaling into retail for the first time. Whatever the stage, the goal is the same: packaging that looks right, communicates clearly and makes people want to pick it up.

Our Packaging Design Services

Packaging Concept and Design

From initial concept through to final design, we develop packaging that reflects the brand, stands out in its category and works across every format it needs to appear in. Primary packaging, secondary packaging, labels, sleeves and everything in between. Packaging design that gives a product a genuine reason to be picked up. The result is packaging that communicates the product clearly and gives customers a genuine reason to pick it up.

Range and System Design

For brands with multiple products or SKUs, we design packaging systems that hold together across the full range. Consistent visual language, clear hierarchy and enough flexibility to work across different formats, sizes and product variants. A range that looks like it belongs together on shelf and online. The result is a range that looks connected on the shelf, in ecommerce listings and across social media.

Dieline Setup and Print Preparation

We set up production-ready dielines and prepare all files for print, making sure everything is correctly structured for the printer before anything goes to production. Bleeds, safe zones, colour profiles and technical specifications all handled in-house.
Files that are ready to print without the back and forth. Your printer receives correctly structured files, reducing unnecessary questions, corrections and production delays.

Social-First Packaging

We consider how your packaging will appear during unboxing, in flat lays and across social media content. That means designing for both the physical retail shelf and the digital environments where customers discover and share products. Packaging that photographs well gives your brand more opportunities to create consistent, recognisable content.

Finish and Production Guidance

We don't manage print production, but we know it well enough to give useful guidance. Substrate recommendations, finish options, supplier direction and production specifications so your packaging brief lands with the printer in the best possible shape. The right finish can elevate a design. The wrong one can undermine it.

Briefing and Discovery

We start by understanding the product, the brand, the retail environment and the customer. Who's buying it, where it's being sold, what the competitors look like on shelf and what the packaging needs to communicate before anyone reads a word.

Concept Development

We develop 2 to 3 distinct packaging concepts, each grounded in the brief and the brand. Structural approach, visual direction, hierarchy and how the design works across the range if applicable. Presented with clear rationale before anything is refined.

Design Refinement

The selected concept is refined through rounds of feedback with our clients. Typography, colour, imagery, finish direction and all the details that make the difference between packaging that looks good and packaging that really works.

Range Extension

Where applicable, the approved design is extended across the full product range. Additional SKUs, size variants and format adaptations, all maintaining the integrity of the original design system.

Dieline Setup and File Preparation

Production-ready dielines are set up and all files are prepared for print. Bleeds, safe zones, colour profiles and technical specifications confirmed and handed over in a format your printer can work with immediately.

Print Guidance and Handover

Final files delivered alongside production notes covering finish recommendations, substrate guidance and any specifications your printer needs to know. We stay available for questions during the print process so nothing falls through the cracks.
